In 1973, the president of Harima Chemicals Inc in Japan, Mr. Hasegawa Sueyoshi, came to Brazil as President of KAKOGAWA's Trade Association for know Maringa City (Sister City of Kakogawa). During the visit to region, He noted that there were many forests of pines. Then He decided to establish a subsidiary of Harima in Brazil.
In August of 1974, it was established the HARIMA do BRAZIL INDúSTRIA QUíMICA by Mr. Hasegawa Sueyoshi in S?o Paulo. In the following year (1975), it started the construction of the installations of HARIMA do PARANá, in an area of 330.000 m2 in the city of Ponta Grossa - PR, and in February, 1976 the Plant was ready and entering in operation.
